Amanikan – the definition of ‘Luxury at Sea’

Amanikan, literally Aman Fish, is the boat you need to see for yourself to understand what luxury at sea means. The 32-meter cruiser is the newest addition to the fleet at Amanwana and offers guests to the wilderness and waters of Indonesia’s Komodo National Park and the Banda Islands.

We were met by Kemala at the dock and whisked away on boat by Amanikan’s private speed boat. The dock is about an hours drive from Amanusa but if you’re joining the crew onboard for a private chartered expedition, you’ll most likely be docking at Amanwana,  the most peaceful and beautiful beach resorts on the island of Moyo, a short flight/helicopter ride away from Denpasar. Although this option can be totally tailored to your preference. 😉

Heading up to the boat, Kemala and our speed boat captain (!) did a full circle around Amanikan so we could get a nice view of what the boat is like from the outside.  The discrete exterior truly blends in with the natural environment of Indonesia with three above-deck cabins, a foredeck with a bar and dining area for outdoor dining.

We boarded the ship and were greeted by Gaz, the Cruise Manager and his strong (North or South I honestly couldn’t tell) English accent and his team. Once onboard, you’re at the foredeck with this beautiful sitting area with a canopy that can be removed on guests’ requests. Gaz mentioned one of the favourite pastimes guests, especially with kids, is spending the evenings watching movies under the stars on this giant couch.

Dining area for families – this is also where they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. However, if you’d like to eat in your room, the staff can set that up for you too. Room service at sea!

Rooms are spacious and twin beds are available too.

Rooms at the front of the ship have got sunlight streaming through their windows – I love a nicely lit room, makes such a difference!

Guests’ main activity would be scuba. If you’ve not scuba dived before and would like to get your PADI licence, Gaz is qualified to be your dive master and do all the drills with you.  All equipment available on board. Just put on your wetsuit and you’re ready to go!

DREAMY!!! On a nice day like this, the sun deck is perfect for reading, relaxing and snoozing. If you’d like to have lunch/dinner on the sundeck, the crew are able to accommodate that too!

No extra beds will be rolled into the rooms if you’ve got kids but these sofas in the room on the upper deck can be transformed into extra beds for the little ones!

I think Amanikan speaks for itself – you’ve got one of the most luxurious hotel brands in the world, on water. Everything you possibly need is onboard (even WiFi), with the most qualified crew to look after you and your family. Itineraries are put together to suit your family – wreck diving, lunch on a deserted island… the list goes on. Amanikan is truly luxury at sea.
